Cock-up No.1 - I didn't have DefIcons installed (funny that, I had it
in 3.1 before I upgraded to 3.5) I've now rectified that and had a
measure of success, at least the icon I want is now shown.

How do I go about this Neil? It really is something I ought to be
familiar with by now, but I've never had reason to mess with it
before.

Correct, they are Exif jpegs. I have Opus4 set up to recognise the
filetype OK, but wanted to be able to do the same thing from a window
opened on WB
